CBC News – Ottawa – Woman, 26, charged in Ottawa man’s death

Blood on the porch

First reports on television described the suspect as homeless.  Later they confirmed that she’s been staying at Hope Outreach, but that was dropped from the story later.

Which of the unholy trinity led to this one … sex, drugs, or money?

Police say the victim and accused were known to each other, and the incident doesn’t appear to be a random attack.

Let’s hear what the Ottawa brain trust (aka the CBC News forum ) has to say about this tragic event.

Warehousing people in prisons hasn’t solved the crime problem in the US, Soviet Russia or anywhere else it has been tried.

We’d be better off redirecting our money from locking people up and put it into improving our pathetic mental health, drug rehabilitation and housing solutions. And decriminalizing drug use would be very helpful too (that’s been a stunning success in Portugal).

WHAT AN EXCELLENT POINT!! Canada has had more than a few cases where an individual has been incarcerated for a murder they did not committ. I always wondered how these travesties of justice could happen. Now I know, there were jury members who had the ability to listen to a theory but not the reason to analyse the theory. Just like many of the people posting comments….

So what you are saying is being homeless gives a person the right to murder?

Interesting how credible media sites (not the CBC) are reporting she was just released from jail. Apparently that was her home for the last few years. I guess leaving out such details caters to the CBC’s audience.

IF she is guilty and IF she just got out of jail, then more credence is given to building more prisons and longer sentences to protect society from these animals.

at 9:12 PM ETI know Simon and I can say that he is one of the nicest and funniest people I have ever met. This is a tragic situation that resulted in the world losing one its best; a genuinely wonderful person.

I think CTV news could do a little better than basing their interviews on comments by homeless, crack addicts!!!
